EMISSION STATEMENT takes great pride in the quality
and thoroughness of its carbon footprint and carbon audit process. All
auditors are
trained by the GHG
Institute and are members of relevant professional organisations
including the Greenhouse
Management Institute.
All audits comply with the relevant ISO
Standard 14064. EMISSION STATEMENT
provides a hands
on approach that requires on-site
visitation.
The process when undertaking a Carbon & Energy Emissions Audit through EMISSION STATEMENT will change according to requirements. However most audits audits will include the following elements:
Understanding which business units, sites or products are to be audited, and to what level of detail, is the first step in the audit process.
This can differ dependent on what the purpose, regulatory
requirements and expected outcomes of the audit may be. Although Scope
1 and 2 Emissions are mandatory audit areas (always included), some
flexibility is available with Scope 3 audit areas. For Audits conducted
purely for the purposes of NGERS, only Scope 1 and Scope 2 areas need
be included. Scope 3 areas that may be examined include employee
commuting, business flights, waste and consumables use.
National Carbon Offset Standard audits require an even more detailed
level of complexity.

The next step in the audit process is the collection of relevant data across all Scopes and Sites, assisted by our staff and the supporting data collection tables. The EMISSION STATEMENT hands on approach means that we are able to spend as much time on site as is necessary to collect all relevant data. For NGERS audits, this may be upwards of two to five days per site to ensure accuracy of information.
EMISSION STATEMENT will visit your site (s) to examine heating, lighting, machinery, office equipment, industrial processes, refrigeration, fuel use centres and waste disposal issues. We believe an accurate audit requires at least some level of site visitation to fully ensure all relevant areas (emission sources) are covered in the audit. Depending on scope, visits may be to sample group of sites where many individual premises are to be contained within scope (eg. Hotel Chains).
The output of the audit is a detailed final report covering comprehensive emissions details, recommendations, benchmarking and analysis. For large scale energy users, an overview of future reporting or legislative issues is offered as an adjunct to the main report.
EMISSION STATEMENT is also able to provide tools
to assist with ongoing calculation of internal footprints. Such tools
needn't be expensive or highly complicated. In the event of a
requirement for software tools for large scale users, EMISSION
STATEMENT can assist in the
evaluation of the best tools currently available in the marketplace.
